The Hotel School Australia has been awarded Silver in the Service to Tourism Industry category at the NSW Tourism Awards 2025, recognising its contribution to supporting and strengthening the tourism and hospitality sector across New South Wales.
For our team, students and industry partners, this recognition reflects the impact of work happening every day, connecting education with industry in practical, meaningful ways that support the tourism workforce.
Service That Goes Beyond the Classroom

The Service to Tourism Industry category recognises organisations that don’t just support tourism in theory, but actively contribute to its future.
For our dedicated team, that means education that goes well beyond lectures and textbooks. It means paid internships, work-integrated learning, industry projects, mentoring, site visits and guest speakers often while students are still studying.
By the time they graduate, many of our students have already worked inside hotels, tourism operators and hospitality businesses across NSW and Australia. They leave not only with a qualification, but with confidence, capability and real-world experience because they’ve already been part of the industry.
Industry Recognition from Leading Hospitality Partners
Our industry partners consistently tell us the same thing: THSA students arrive prepared.
Hilton Sydney, a long-standing partner, shares “Students placed within Hilton Sydney have been professional and passionate about the hospitality industry. They bring not only refined technical skills, but a genuine curiosity and professionalism that elevate guest experiences.”
The Langham, Sydney echoed this sentiment,“THSA students arrive industry-ready, reflecting the value of their specialised education in hotel and tourism management.”
These endorsements reflect what matters most to industry. Graduates who understand expectations, adapt quickly and contribute with confidence from day one.
Innovation Through an Industry-Led Education Model
Innovation was a key focus of this award category, and The Hotel School Australia’s recognition reflects the way our programs are delivered through the Southern Cross Model.
This flexible, industry-aligned learning model supports shorter terms, focused study periods and applied learning. It allows students to balance study with work, while building professional skills that respond to the real needs of the tourism and hospitality industry.
For students, the impact is tangible.
Frances, an international student studying a Master of Business in Global Hotel Leadership, shared, “The Southern Cross Model gave me the flexibility to gain practical experience, build my network and stay mentally prepared throughout my studies. It felt like a model designed to help students thrive, not just academically, but personally as well.”
Domestic student Imogen, currently working in the cruise industry while studying, added:
“The flexibility of the Southern Cross Model has been crucial to balancing study and work. Its practical focus has prepared me for my future career while supporting my wellbeing.”
Building Strong Tourism and Hospitality Partnerships
Industry partnerships sit at the heart of The Hotel School Australia’s approach to education. Through our Professional Learning Centre and wider engagement initiatives, we work closely with hotels, tourism operators and hospitality leaders to understand workforce needs and create meaningful opportunities for students.
These partnerships help us to:
- Support tourism workforce development and future talent pipelines
- Provide paid internships and practical learning opportunities
- Embed current industry insight directly into curriculum
- Build long-term relationships that grow alongside the tourism sector
This collaborative model ensures students gain early exposure to industry expectations, while employers are supported with graduates who are prepared, confident and work-ready.
Celebrating Excellence Across the Tourism Industry
The Hotel School Australia was proud to be recognised alongside other outstanding organisations in the Service to Tourism Industry category:
- Gold: Sparrowly Group, Sydney
- Silver: The Hotel School Australia, Sydney
- Bronze: Destination Research & Development, Ballina
Being acknowledged alongside these organisations reflects a shared commitment across the industry to collaboration, innovation and sustainable tourism growth throughout New South Wales.
A Night to Celebrate Together

Members of The Hotel School Australia team attended the NSW Tourism Awards alongside students and industry guests, making the evening especially meaningful. Celebrating this achievement together was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when education and industry work side by side. Receiving Silver in the Service to Tourism Industry category is both a moment of recognition and a reminder of responsibility.
Tourism is powered by people. Preparing those people well, with the right skills, mindset and industry experience, is where education can make its biggest impact.
We are incredibly proud of our students, our team and our industry partners. This recognition belongs to everyone working together to shape a strong, skilled and future-focused tourism and hospitality workforce.
